Jenny of Oldstones

“Jenny of Oldstones” is an adaptation of a song mentioned in George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, on which Game of Thrones is based. In the third novel in the series, A Storm of Swords, a character asks for “my Jenny’s song” to be performed. Only one line of the song is quoted in the novel itself: “High in the halls of the kings who are gone, Jenny would dance with her ghosts.” In the fictional history of the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, the titular Jenny of Oldstones was a commoner for whom a prince gave up his inheritance to marry. This song is heard in the final episodes of Season 6 of Game of Thrones. An alternative title is “Jenny’s Song”. I have placed it in the folk category because, although it is not old, it is traditional in style.
