Try A Little Tenderness

Written and first recorded in 1932 in a rather sentimental style, this well-known song has a complex history and has been covered by many artists. Bing Crosby jazzed it up in 1933, but it became really famous when it was was re-interpreted in 1966 by Otis Redding who gave it decidedly more risque lyrics recommending “squeezing” and “rubbing” as tender techniques. Since the original lyrics read “young girls do get weary”, Redding’s lyrics made some artists a little nervous and so, in some versions, “young girls” becomes “women”. I have modeled this TAB on Michael Buble to make it playable on the stick dulcimer, but I like the versions with soul better. For this reason I am including two youtubes in this post. The second is Buble; the first is by The Commitments from an Irish film of the  same name.
