This song has an interesting history. It was written by Phil Spector who was inspired by words on his father’s tombstone, “To Know Him Was To Love Him”. In 1958 it was first recorded by “The Teddy Bears”, the only vocal group of which Spector was ever a member. The song was resurrected by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris on their album, “Trio”.
