This song is of disputed origins, but it seems to have been written in the early 1900’s. Some claim it is originally American; others say it is an Irish drinking song. This TAB is based on a version by The Clancy Brothers, and features, I believe, Liam Clancy. It is slow and rather mournful as the original most certainly was. The Clancy Brothers also sing a much faster, jaunty version of the same tune. Try it at the faster tempo if you want.  I have included youtubes of both versions.
