A traditional Scottish folk song of uncertain origins. It could be a sad love song of lovers parted by the wide ocean, or possibly a lament for Bonnie Prince Charlie after the defeat of the clans at Culloden. There are various versions of the lyrics. Whatever the interpretation of the lyrics, John McDermott’s performance is moving.
