This is one of the United States’ most famous folk songs. It was written by Woody Guthrie in 1940. So popular is the song that many versions have been recorded with the lyrics adjusted to fit different countries, regions and languages including Swedish, English, Welsh, German, Irish, Scottish, Australian and Turkish. The Travellers did a Canadian version in 1955. I have included tabs for both in this post.
