The Midnight Special (Merlin)

A traditional folk song thought to have originated among prisoners in the American south. The Midnight Special was a passenger train from Houston which would shine its “ever-loving light” into the cells of Sugar Land Prison as it passed and became a symbol of hope for the prisoners. Long before Creedence Clearwater Revival did their excellent version of the song, it was being performed by artists like “Lead Belly” Ledbetter.
